How to clean Custom Hardware

Cleaning your Custom devices thoroughly and regularly will not compromise performance and will guarantee more safety, especially today.
We’ve come up with a few simple tips to help you clean your hardware, POS and Data Intelligence products.

WHAT TO USE

1. A SOFT, DAMP CLOTH
   To clean external plastic components, all you need is a soft cloth slightly moistened with soap and water. 
    
2. WIPES
   You can use wipes if you need to apply slightly more liquid to your device. 
    
3. A HYDROALCOHOLIC SOLUTION AND CLOTH
   If you choose to use a hydroalcoholic solution, make sure to spray it onto a cloth first. 
    
4. CLEANING PRODUCTS CONTAINING <20% ALCOHOL
   You can also choose to use other solutions, but make sure they contain less than 20% alcohol (e.g. isopropyl alcohol). 

WHAT TO AVOID

1. DIRECT LIQUIDS
   Do not pour or spray liquids directly onto your devices, even if they are disinfectants or detergents. 
    
2. AEROSOLS OR SPRAYS
   Do not spray aerosols directly onto your devices. Moisture could enter the cracks and damage the internal electronics.
    
3. CLEANING PRODUCTS CONTAINING >70% ALCOHOL
   Do not use solutions containing more than 70% alcohol. You could damage the plastic and/or display.
    
4. ABRASIVE PRODUCTS
   Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or materials (powders, brushes, sponges, etc.). 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Here are a few additional tips to help you manage and maintain your Custom devices:

• Do not clean the electrical contacts
• Avoid excessive rubbing
• Try to keep your devices out of direct sunlight
• Do not insert anything into the smart-card/SIM-card reader slot, if present
